The members of BTS rarely reveal too much about their personal life. This includes religion, while references to it may be found in songs like “Blood Sweat & Tears.” Based on a few facts, some ARMYs have claimed that Jungkook may be Christian.

The School of Performing Arts in Seoul (SOPA), a faith-based institution, served as Jungkook’s high school. On the official website of the institution, it is described as “South Korea’s first and only Christian-based high school with special purposes in performing arts.” Every Wednesday afternoon there are required services, and once a week there is a class for teaching the Bible.

Additionally, ARMYs have observed Jungkook praying before meals. Although not just Christians practice this, most of them do.

Jungkook sang the Christmas classic “O Holy Night.” “It is the night of our dear Savior’s birth,” the lyrics say, and “O night divine, O night when Christ was born.”

Still, at a Chuseok Greeting, Jungkook looked to pray more like a Buddhist than a Christian. He was spotted visiting the Buddhist temple Ganghwa Bomunsa (보문사 – 강화).

For several years, Jungkook has been photographed wearing what seems to be a Mala beaded bracelet throughout photoshoots, music videos, and live broadcasts. Mala (Sanskrit for “garland”) beads are based on Hinduism and Buddhism and are used for meditation; others have hypothesized that Jungkook is Muslim.

However, there isn’t much evidence to back this idea, and Jungkook has recently talked about religion for the first time.

Jungkook did a live broadcast on Weverse today after testing TikTok Live. He said on his Weverse Live that he is not religious since he was never forced to be. His father’s family was Christian, but his mother’s family was Buddhist.

I don’t have any religion. My father’s family are Christians and my mother’s Buddhists. But starting from my generation, there wasn’t anything taken for granted about religion. There wasn’t any pressure on me to have any religion.
